What Relay does not do

• No advertising.
• No third-party analytics, tracking, or attribution SDKs.
• No account required for local play or iCloud sync.
• No sale of personal data.

What stays on your device

Your game files, saves, firmware, and settings are stored on your device. Relay works fully offline.

iCloud

If iCloud is turned on for Relay, your library, the covers you choose, your saves, and play history are stored in your private iCloud storage using Apple's CloudKit. Game-file sync is free and stays off until you enable it. Relay's operator has no access to this private iCloud data. You can turn iCloud for Relay off at any time.

Covers

Relay recognizes your games from a list of titles built into the app, so identifying a game never leaves your device. To show a recognized game's cover, Relay asks Relay's own server in the EU for it. The request names the system and a public game title, never you, your device, or your file, and carries no account or device identifier. The server records neither the title nor your IP address. It uses the address only to answer and to limit how many requests one address can make, keeping a pseudonymised form of it for up to two hours before expiry; expired records are removed by routine cleanup shortly afterwards. Turn off Download Covers in Relay's settings and Relay makes no such request; Remove Downloaded Covers deletes the covers already downloaded.

Covers you choose

A cover you pick for a game is resized and re-encoded on your device, which removes its location, camera, and date information. It syncs with your library through the sync option you use, iCloud or Relay Sync, and Reset Cover removes it.

Transfer from a computer

With Relay Pro and a Relay Account, you can choose files in your computer’s browser and send them to the device where you have opened Transfer. A Sync membership is not required. Files go directly from your browser to your device. When a direct connection is not possible, they pass encrypted through Relay’s own relay server in the EU, without being stored. Your browser and receiving device can see each other’s network addresses. File names, sizes, hashes and import results stay between them; Relay’s account service does not receive or store them. It keeps temporary account and device-type records to pair the devices, and a transfer’s timestamps and completion reason for up to 24 hours. Closing Transfer or leaving the app ends the connection; games already added remain in your library. Transferred games follow your existing game-file sync choice.

Relay Account and online storage

A Relay Account stores your sign-in provider identifier, account identifier, device identifiers and types, and verified purchase entitlements. Relay does not request or store your email address or personal device names. Relay Sync and Relay Sync+ are optional storage plans, separate from iCloud, and include Pro while active. They store library metadata, saves, save states, activity and chosen covers, plus game files if you enable their sync. Data is hosted in the EU and encrypted in transit and at rest; authorized operators can access it to operate and secure the service. You can export your account metadata or delete your Relay Sync data. That deletion leaves your account identity and purchase records intact. After your subscription entitlement ends, a seven-day recovery period lets you retrieve your data before deletion; deletion waits if the provider has not confirmed the end. Cancelling renewal does not delete data during your paid period. Purchase and entitlement records have no automatic deletion deadline; they remain separate from Sync data for billing and account support.

Purchases

Relay Pro is available as the recommended one-time Once purchase or a Monthly subscription. Relay Sync and Relay Sync+ are separate subscriptions that include Pro while active. Apple processes payments; Relay receives verified purchase and entitlement records, never your card or bank details.

Diagnostics

App crash and performance data reaches us only through Apple's own diagnostics if you've opted in to share analytics with Apple. A diagnostics bundle you export yourself from Settings › Advanced › Diagnostics never contains game files, saves, credentials, or personal data. Relay’s online service records a random request identifier, HTTP method, route and processing time to operate and secure the service. An account identifier may also be logged when an account operation fails. These technical logs contain no game files or saves.
